The Families of Vermont Helping Vermont Families
|
The mission of the Connor B. Turnbaugh Foundation is to provide financial support to Vermont
families that have a child inflicted with a pediatric cancer. The Foundation's goal is to provide a
pathway for which Vermont families and businesses can lend financial assistance to their fellow
Vermonter's in a time of need.
In June of 2006, Mary and Jeff Turnbaugh's 2 year old son
Connor was diagnosed with Leukemia AML. Connor
received six months of inpatient chemotherapy at the
Vermont Children's Hospital, finishing in November 2006.
He responded well to the treatment and is now an active,
healthy little boy.
It was this reason the Connor B. Turnbaugh Foundation was established.
Their first fundraiser, A Time to Give, which consisted of a 5K run/walk and silent auction raised over
$10,000. This will become an annual fundraiser, along with other events scheduled throughout the year.
Please see our events page for more info on fundraisers and upcoming events the foundation is
sponsoring.
Through their experience and the time spent at the
Vermont Children's Hospital, Mary and Jeff became
aware of the financial strain that a family can endure
while struggling with pediatric cancer. In hearing the
many stories of hardship, they knew they wanted to do something to help.
